Problems with the new vBulletin?

We've recently upgraded to the newest version of vBulletin. While most of the forum looks/works the way it's supposed to, we're already finding little bugs that need to be fixed. Because I don't want to email Egmont 100 times with 100 little problems, I'm going to use this thread for the next week to collect all the problems, then send off (what I can't fix) all the problems at once.

So far we've noticed that you can color the font on your posts using the quick reply box, you can't color stuff if you use "go advanced" or if you start a new thread (I just tested while I typed this).

Are there any other problems you notice? (Particularly, things you WERE able to do last month, but can't do now) If so, let me know here, and I'll see if I can fix them. What I can't fix, I'll send on to Richard.

[EDIT]: while you can't color your font when you create a new thread, you can edit your thread's post and color it that way. It's a two-step process that's kind of a pain in the neck, but will get the job done until we can fix the problem.

I don't know if this happens for anyone else, but the whole "go advanced" box doesn't load correctly for me. It comes up all funky, but then it sort-of fixes itself if you click on something.

And, on someone's thread, as you look under "new posts" has a little box with a question mark next to it. I don't know what that's about. I'll try and find the thread here... Hm... I don't have the question marked box...

And the Go Advanced box... I think it's just the skin... or something... the white background that's usually behind all the buttons on the top... where the bold, italic, and underline buttons are... yeah, it's minor, but it's gone.

Well ,the over four pictures in the dig still works, but that was an old problem.

actually, I think I found the problem while I was turning off new features. With any luck, everybody (member, mod, or admin) should now be able to have 5 pictures.

Ok, in writing this in the go advanced for the first time. The skin has changed, throws me off a bit too, :confused: so yeah, also within the next week I'll try to find some Pm flaws ok? Not this week but on Sat-Wed I'll figure out a way somehow and report it to you after :P.

EDIT: New feature(I think) that I like. If you post duplicate posts e.g slow Internet+Impatience=Multiple posts. It will redirect you with posting only 1 post :D

I'll try to find a way around it. Considering the friend groups and how there's "stranger messages". Also, I just saw this. When you edit instead of pressing ok you have to press "Vote Now!". Didn't see that one coming :P

I saw 'vote now' too, but for a split second - when I tried to re-edit my post, it said 'save'. I'll get a screenshot if it happens again.

I dont know if this is a problem with the forum or compters but.., I wanted my friend chistian to join the foum so i gave her a link and it gave her computer a vryurs. Is it the forum my cumpter or her computer

Oh man, I took this last year. You have to press command.. Uhm one sec...
Here:
Hold down the APPLE [Command] and SHIFT keys
Press 3 for a screen shot of the entire screen
Press 4 to get a "Crosshairs" so you can select just a section of the screen you want a screenshot for.
Press the space bar after you press 4 if you want it to automatically size the screenshot so that it perfectly matches the window it's over. After you press the space bar, a camera icon should come up.
Know that the resulting file will be placed on your desktop, named Picture X.pdf for versions of 10.3 or earlier and Picture X.png for 10.4 and later (could also end in .jpg).
Press Esc to cancel.

No problem, and I'm pretty sure the vBulletin spits at Macs, honestly. I'm usig an ipid but it doesn't happen, but on several apps it does that. I don't know why though.

okay, here's a weird one. From time to time, the forum display is insisting that I've made recent posts that I haven't. Case in point: The best RPers of the summer. It swears I posted today around 4:00. I didn't. And it's not because I voted, either, because I did that sometime yesterday. Is this happening for anyone else (whether the forum says I posted, you posted, or someone else did, but you go to read the thread and there aren't any new posts)? :confused:

My Mac never makes a line invisible. But I use Safari.

And yeah, Nev, if you're the last one to post, and someone else votes, it says what time they voted, but you come up as having posted.

Hi all

I'm struggling to replicate the issue on my PC so i'm guessing its a random issue. I'll upgrade the forum to the latest version and see if that fixes the problem. If it still creeps up then i'll put a support request into vbulletin.

I don't know if it's a vBulletin thing, but every I go to view an attachment, mostly in the Elouai thread, it needs me to log in again. Then I don't have to that again until I log out. Is that supposed to happen?

I can't remember... I know back in the days of UE, only mods could view attachments. Now all registered members can... maybe you still have to prove you're a member, the same way you have to put in your password to do moderation stuff? I've never payed attention, so I'll go check and see if it makes me put in my password, too. However, we might need further confirmation--because of my admin account, it might just bow down and obey me without question. :p

Just a head's up--if the forum goes down at any point over the next few days, it is a good thing. The forum may get turned off for a certain period of time so we can upgrade vBulletin. I'm not sure when this will happen, or if the forum will be unavailable while it goes on, but I'm just giving you fair warning so you can think up some alternate excuses for procrastinating on your homework. :D
