This is a Harry Potter thread but only about the last book. So if you go in this thread you'll need to have read all the books to go in this thread cos you find out about the other books in this thread to.
One thing it discuss the deaths and how the book could have been woth out them. And about the horcrexs and thinking of what you'd do to protect a horcrex. And about that dreadful epiolgue and what your ideas for one are.
So remember this is for the last book.

One thing: I didn't think the epilogue was dreadful I liked it. I thought it was sweet and funny and it wrapped things up perfectly. I don't quite see what people hate about it...

Is it really necessary for a Spoiler alert for a book that was released like... over 2 years ago?

Yeah, by this point I'd think everyone has either read it or has no intention of reading it.
I am in the minority of not hating the epilogue. It was a little corny, yes, but I think I liked how happy it was. After all he'd gone through Harry deserved a sweet, happy, corny life.

Well then it's your own fault. Naturally there are ALWAYS books which others haven't read. But we can't go putting everything in spoiler tags, unless someone specifically asks

well I didn't read all the books, not the sixth one at least, not completely
But the epilogue was strange but it was okay.

Yeah, I didn't have a problem with Deathly Hallows. I felt JK Rowling tied up the series as best she could, unlike some other series I know *cough breaking dawn*

wait... people didn't like the epilogue?
How else would we have found out who ends up with whom? And where they end up as adults? And about what happened to poor Teddy Lupin? I couldn't possibly fathom the books without an epilogue... :'O

I hated the epilogue or one reason, and even that really isn't it's fault. I absolutely hated the Harry/Ginny pairing. And I know people are like "he saved her" and "she liked him before" ans stuff like that, but Harry even said he thought of her as a little sister, and that's just really awkward for Ron, I mean just imagine your best friend and your little sister kissing! And the thing that was to do with the epilogue, I can't believe that everybody ended up with who they liked in highschool. And I know that made it a nice ending and all, but if killing people off made it seem real, why did everybody have to marry into the same family?

The "everyone ending up with their seventh-year sweethearts" argument is actually quite good. In the same breath, it was really only just Ron/Hermione, and Harry/Ginny that Rowling told us about, wasn't it? That's two for two out of the whole school, and everyone listed above had other romantic interests before they ended up with whom they did.
As far as Ron's best friend marrying his sister, I know people who were best friends in high school who are now in-laws. The wedding didn't come along until well after high school, and when it did, it was more like "cool! We've always been best friends, now we're brothers!"
I thought Harry said that Hermione was like the sister to him, not Ginny...

I'm with Nevvie. We never hear that anyone else married their high school sweethearts. And marrying your high school sweetheart isn't that uncommon. I know three (at least) pairs of married couples who dated in high school.

I think the Deathly Hallows was alright, but it was not the right ending for a series like that. The ending to the battle between Voldemort and Harry seems childish.

I think the epilogue was really good and JK Rowling ended the series as best she could. I mean if it didn't have an epilogue how would you have had your questions answered of what happened next. I don't understand how people dont like it. As for the last book it was good but not my favourite. I loved the bit when Mrs Weasley was shouting at Bellatrix though :D

Well, sure. There could be many possiblities of how JK Rowling wanted her story to end, but she chose that one and that's how it would be. Even if I don't like it that much, that's how she wrote it.

I don't think that has to be the argument that makes you accept it though. You, as a reader of her series, are a critic, and you are allowed to not like things. Writers are not all knowing, perfect gods with pens in hand, and they get things wrong in their stories. Writers write for an audience, and the audience certainly has a right to not like something they did. It's how writers grow, in fact. If everyone kept their negative opinions to themselves, writers would never have a chance to grow.

I have to say that the epilogue was quite nice it let you know that the series was done and that there wasn't going to be more so i guess it was a happily ever after
