I will join too. Manfred in awsome :D
DayDream
02-04-2010, 01:35 PM
I'm joining. Manfred was my first favorite character :D
SparkleViolet
02-04-2010, 11:14 PM
Ok, let's get the ball rolling!
First question: What was your very first impression of Manfred?
Sazza
02-06-2010, 07:05 PM
Oh, oh, oh, I'm joining! How can there be a Manfred fan club without me!!! I KNOW WHERE HE LIVES!:p
My first impression? It was so long ago since I first read the book, but I seem to remember that I liked him from the start, because he was the first bad guy to crop up, he seemed cool and you could just tell there was the potential for some good old ice-hearted evil :D
SparkleViolet
02-07-2010, 07:01 AM
Saz! Glad you could join! Please stay because we've got loads to talk about.
My first impression: I kind of didn't like Manfred because he was a jerk, but then again, I seem to like that bad boys. Nice, isn't it?
Sazza
02-07-2010, 06:15 PM
Hahaha, how could I pass up the oppertunity to talk about my fave bad boy? :p
 Manny is not a jerk! I never thought that! What made him a jerk?
SparkleViolet
02-07-2010, 07:39 PM
When I first read the book, I couldn't stand Manfred at all. Not until book 5 that i started thinking differently about him.
Sazza
02-07-2010, 07:50 PM
I've always liked him, though when he got attacked by the leopards I loved him: I just felt so sorry for him!
But seriously, what made him a jerk?
SparkleViolet
02-07-2010, 07:54 PM
In the beginning, how he treated Charlie like crap...that made me mad. But then he got attacked by the leopards and I felt sorry for him. That and he seemed at times to be sick and tired of doing what his father and Ezekiel says.
Sazza
02-07-2010, 08:09 PM
Fair enough. See, I liked him for treating Charlie like crap. It's not that I have anything against Charlie: he's a wee bit irritating at times, but he's alright. It's just that I'm very antagonistic, I always side with the bad guys *evil grin*
Hmmm, I've always found that interesting to contemplate, whether he actually likes doing what his father and Ezekiel tell him to. I wish there was more in the books from his point of view, and that gave us a hint of his true feelings towards his father, as I've never really been able to figure out how he feels about him. However, I too got the feeling he didn't much like Ezekiel and doing his bidding, but kept a friendly front toward him because he had to  Aww....saying that suddenly made me feel sorry for him all over again! I just wanna give him a big hug and tell him it's OK! :o
SparkleViolet
02-07-2010, 08:11 PM
So there is the fanfic I wrote about him ditching his father and joining his mother. Now I want to write more fanfics about Manfred.
Sazza
02-07-2010, 08:18 PM
Oh, yes I think I read that, it's great, and so sweet! :D
That would be cool if you wrote more, I love reading fanfics about him :D
SparkleViolet
02-07-2010, 08:29 PM
Of course, the other two are about Manfred getting rickrolled and the one where Bloor's hosted a Star trek-like party and Ezekiel forced manfred to wear that ultra-embarrassing Star-trek costume...
So, what other fanfics has anyone read about Manfred (besides ME)?
Dawnfire
02-07-2010, 08:32 PM
Sparkles, come to the Star Trek thread. xD
I actually haven't read much Manfred-centric fanfiction because I rarely go on FF.net (it's so hard to weed out the terrible stuff from good stuff there), and no one on LJ really writes CB fic. I mean, there must be some out there, but I haven't read any of it.
SparkleViolet
02-07-2010, 08:34 PM
So, where's the Star Trek thread? I can't seem to find it anywhere!
As for Charlie Bone fanfiction, it' such a shame that very few people ACTUALLY write fanfics for Charlie Bone (except for me), especially about Manfred.
Speaking of which, how's about I write a story about Manfred getting caught reading Twilight?
Dawnfire
02-07-2010, 08:48 PM
Here. :D (http://charlie-bone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3170)
Mm... Icingsugar and I (or at least I do) wanted dubcon Manfred/Asa, but that's really not forum appropriate... I'm not quite sure what else would work... maybe an A Christmas Carol or Tapestry type fan fiction?
SparkleViolet
02-07-2010, 08:52 PM
Yeah. Somehting he would read but doesn't want no one else to know that he reads...haha!
BTW, thanks for the link to Star Trek. I'll check it out now.
TeddyBearQueen
02-15-2010, 12:45 PM
Ha, I must have missed this thread *narrows eyes* I think I belong here...as well...do I need to explain myself? ^^ Well then. Why do people think Manfred is a jerk.
Answer: he is one, but thats because he's forced to think that way and isn't given a choice of his own. His whole life he does as his father and great grandfather say and he doesn't want to accept the other options that are available for him because he wants to show his family and prove he is worth something, otherwise he's dumped to the side.
*nods* thats my opinion on the subject.
((as for Star Trek, I haven't watched it, but I do watch Sanctuary and I found out that Amanda Tapping plays in both...so I might watch star trek..but there are over... *** I don't know how many episodes to catch up on.))
SparkleViolet
02-15-2010, 07:52 PM
Queenie! Glad you could come in! I'll add you to the list!
New Question: How would Manfred survive if he was placed in another story?
TeddyBearQueen
02-15-2010, 10:20 PM
OOOh good question. Hm...it would depend what type of story and who he was with. I mean, is he alone? Or is he with friends, family? Who? Also, the story is also important, it depends because then maybe his whole personality and influence might chance.
SparkleViolet
02-15-2010, 11:17 PM
Let's see: if Manfred were stuck in Harry Potter and forced to be among the Gryffindors, what could happen?
IDK, but I think Manfred would go bezerk because the Gryffindors are good and he's not.
TeddyBearQueen
02-16-2010, 01:03 AM
Yes, I'd agree. Manfred still has his...evilness. *evil grin* otherwise, he wouldn't be Manfred. hehe. Yet, if he was in Slytherin...I might think otherwise. I wouldn't mind a Death Eater.
SparkleViolet
02-16-2010, 02:37 AM
Of course we all know that Manfred can *ACTUALLY* get stuff done as a Death Eater.
TeddyBearQueen
02-16-2010, 02:41 AM
Yes, Yes we do. hehe. I would love him as a Death Eater. I'd eat him to death. :P
SparkleViolet
02-18-2010, 10:11 PM
Or what if he was part of the Volturi?
well, they *would* want him because of his fire abilities...well, how would they put up with his bad temper?
TeddyBearQueen
02-19-2010, 01:59 AM
NO NO NO and NO!! Not the Volturi. I would run after him, tear his head off and eat him. Nope. I won't allow him to be part of that. >.< sorry. He's either a Cullen or a werewolf. :D
icingsugar
02-19-2010, 01:17 PM
Heyyy Im back!! (Not quite sure were I went...but heyy) :D
I want to join.
And erm fanfiction...right, well Ive wrote 2 CB ones.
A manfred/Olivia one : (I bring this up because alot of my reviewrs have said they didn't like Manfred until they read my fic hehe)
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3981625/1/A_strange_attraction
And then on set during TRK were Asa comes back to settle the score with Manfred (nothing naughty I promise...unfortunately ;)
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5490717/1/What_should_have_happened
(If you do read...reviews would be lovely)
Anyway...
Does anyone else think Harry Lloyd would be the perfect Manfred?? :D
TeddyBearQueen
02-19-2010, 01:28 PM
OMG he's the guy who plays in Doctor Who in the one episode and says "Father of Mine" and then tilts his head. HAHA. He is sooo creepy. I think he might work as an option, but I don't think he'd work for me :P
icingsugar
02-19-2010, 02:28 PM
Yes he is :D
He was also Will Scarlett in the Robin Hood BBC series in which he was lovely. So it proves he can play contrasting characters.
Hes also Charles Dickens great great great grandson in real life which is cool :D
SparkleViolet

@icing: I'm adding you to the list.
@Queenie: would Manfred be better off as a Cullen or a Wolf?
icingsugar

@Queenie: would Manfred be better off as a Cullen or a Wolf?
I know this question isn't directed at me but CULLEN! Manfred would make the sexiest vampire ever! I can soo imagine it! *sighs dreamily* Haha, that vampire can stalk me anytime! ;)
Besides, he already has the pale skin and black eyes :D

02-20-2010, 10:31 PM
OK new question:
Which character in Charlie Bone would Manfred hook up with?
Tancfan01
02-20-2010, 11:46 PM
I don't know if that is directed for me or not and I also don't know if you mean a good guy or bad so i will answer both.
Evil: I would say one of the twins... I just see them together for some reason
Good:... Probably Olivia because she just seems like someone that would keep him in line and she seems to like him a bit too :D
TeddyBearQueen

@Queenie: would Manfred be better off as a Cullen or a Wolf?
Uh...I dunno...to tell you the truth I'm not an Edward fan don't kill me But I'm a Cullen fan...so I really don't know...ha.

Okay...okay maybe...hehe...I could see him as a sexy vampire...BUT STILL I can see him as a sexy wolf too.
OK new question:
Which character in Charlie Bone would Manfred hook up with?
If not me...Zelda. No doubt and I'm pretty okay with that...since I'm not in the book. Otherwise...I would kill her. *nods*
icingsugar
02-21-2010, 10:08 AM
Asa :D:D
But...if not...Olivia...just because I wrote an Olivia/Manfred fanfic and kind of liked how it turned out. :o

Wait...wait...WHAT? Asa? >> My Manfred Bloor with Asa?
*le gasp*........breathe .....breathe.....*faint*

icingsugar
02-21-2010, 06:29 PM
aha
who knows, behind closed doors him and Asa could have been really friendly to each other...okay so that goes against everything that was wrote in the wilderness wolf but...maybe Jenny got it wrong
SparkleViolet
02-22-2010, 04:43 AM
Ooooooohhhh the things you can come up with!
Speaking of which, what if a new endowed student came to Bloor's and Manfred falls in love with her? How would the others react?
TeddyBearQueen
02-22-2010, 04:49 AM

(slightly off topic...I love your avatar!! Im a MASSIVE Monty Python fan :D:D)
On topic...I wanted Manfred to go good so badly :(
We do know he has some feelings...when his mother goes away in book 2 I seem to remember Manfred goes to stop her and when shes gone he shouts "Mummy" and starts to cry.:(
SparkleViolet
02-23-2010, 11:34 PM
So now we all know that Manfred DID love his mother after all. And last year, I did write a story about Manfred leaving Bloor's and finding his mother, which you can find here (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5038231/1/Tell_Me_A_Story_Manfred_Leaves_Bloors).
icingsugar
02-24-2010, 12:39 PM

Poor Manfred...probably the most misunderstood character ever :(
SparkleViolet
02-24-2010, 08:05 PM
Yeah...and he remained bad WHY???
lunapresul
02-26-2010, 03:22 PM
I think Jenny just thought Manfred wouldn't be as awesome/sexy if he was good. Her books needed a bad boy, so she kept Manfred.
icingsugar
02-26-2010, 04:39 PM
Yes...plus we don't know if Manfred survived he may have turned good after!!
SparkleViolet
02-27-2010, 05:55 AM
Right. But I don't think Jenny would give us a complete answer as to if Manfred is alive or dead. He may have gotten amnesia and became good.
icingsugar
02-27-2010, 04:24 PM
yes...amnesia :D Good idea.
SparkleViolet
02-28-2010, 01:11 AM

SparkleViolet
03-01-2010, 11:56 PM
Ok, we all agree not to talk about the end of the book until we've all read it, ok?
New question: Do you think Manfred was a victim of his father and Ezekiel's schemes?
TeddyBearQueen
03-02-2010, 12:46 AM
*nods* yes yes and YES No question about it.
icingsugar
03-02-2010, 03:28 PM
Yes!! Just like if the aunts had their way they'd use Charlie because of his endowment. Manfreds family used him for his endowments.
Just makes me wonder why Bartholemyew (sp) never tried to get Manfred out of that bad environment...after all he is his grandson. And also cook...she was probably working at Bloor's all through his childhood so why didnt she try and help him.
Sazza
03-02-2010, 06:57 PM
I think the Bloors used poor Manfred sort of like a puppet. As in, they let him have the 'responsibility' to do their dirty work, which meant he got all the blame for when it went wrong, and from the people it affected i.e Charlie.
Which did make him a victim in a way, for example when the leopards attacked him *sob*, he sort of took the conseqences for something he was influenced to do by his father and Ezekiel :(
Just makes me wonder why Bartholemyew (sp) never tried to get Manfred out of that bad environment...after all he is his grandson. And also cook...she was probably working at Bloor's all through his childhood so why didnt she try and help him.
I'm guessing that's because he was always going to be evil, and he was quite happy to do those things to the good endowed. So even if they took him out of the environment, he would still have remained evil. If that makes sense haha.
I've got the impression from some of the answers at 'Ask Jenny' that Jenny Nimmo thinks Manny was born evil and will die evil, and never turn good. Which is fine with me, cos I much prefer him bad :D
SparkleViolet
03-03-2010, 12:08 AM
Which brings me to the next question:
Who would be most likely to try to get Manfred away from his family?
Sazza
03-03-2010, 07:05 PM
ME! :D
Seriously, though, ummm...that's a hard one. To be honest, I can't imagine any of the characters caring about him enough to want to do that (though how they can't see his amazingness I can't imagine!). Maybe his mother? I personally think she still loves him even after he trapped her fingers in the door
SparkleViolet
03-04-2010, 06:22 AM
I think it would be Manfred's mother who might remove her son from his family. If not, then maybe Paton would.
Do you think Manfred was a victim of his father and Ezekiel's schemes? I say that it's possible; he seemed to be tired of doing what everyone else said by the time of the penultimate book, methinks.

Ok, since we've gotten some more new members, I shall ask you another hard question: do any of you think Manfred could be a Death Eater?
DayDream
03-11-2010, 01:07 PM
No, I don't think he's quite brave enough. I think he would be more like the Black's where he agreed with their ways, but didn't want to join them per-say. Savvy?

does anybody have an idea of why manfred was bad
I think it's probably his up-bringing. He was groomed to be bad. It was in his blood. When he was younger he mustn't have had a choice, and as he grew-up it must have stuck. Sometimes I think Manfred is really misunderstood; I think that because he thinks he's capable of all the bad things in his life that he has done, that he really believes he is evil, when, in fact, he isn't because he was forced to. Saying that, i don;t think Dr. Bloor was all that bad either. I'm sure his grandfather also had a lot of influence over his life too. Jenny even said he was the one most likely to help Charlie.
Sazza
03-26-2010, 04:34 PM
Agreed. Although I personally think (and Jenny has said this) that the main reason he is bad is just because he was born that way (just like the other 'bad' children of the red king who are evil for no apparent reason), I also think that his family - Ezekiel in particular - sort of encouraged his bad side so that they could utilise it...
Railee
03-26-2010, 08:20 PM
Ssoooooooo.Manfred Bloor. aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!! cool huh? WAit. I mean awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bellatrix
03-27-2010, 03:52 PM
Ok. thanks that makes sense. I just boght Midnight for Charlie Bone last
night and reread it i just finished it and I HATE how Charlie used his endowment to block him.I also think that even if Manny had succeded in hypnotizing Charlie it wouldent of helped because Charlie most likely wouldent have remembered where the case was if he was Hypnotized.
Sazza
03-27-2010, 07:13 PM
Same! I hate it whenever stupid (no offence, Charlie, but I'm with the baddies) Charlie overpowers him. Personally, I don't think it really makes sense how he does it anyway *pouts childishly* Poor Manfred's greatest power becomes useless :(
Ooh, that makes me think of a question: Which of Manny's powers do you think is best, fire or hypnotism?
Personally, I think...hypnotism. It suits him better, and in my opinion makes him more scary than fire which anyone could just get from a lighter. Plus, it's still powerful even if people can overcome it: just the thought of being able to control someone like that...
Bellatrix
04-13-2010, 07:46 PM
I SOOOOO agree Sazza poor Manny . I agree with you [again] that hypnotizing suits him more.
Hey!!!!!! I just got this great idea how about we make up a day to be Manny's B-day!!!!!! we do not know his real bday o course but we can make 1 up Sazza should pick the date of it if she would
SparkleViolet
04-13-2010, 11:18 PM
Ok, I have some stats about Manfred which I will write here:
Full name: Manfred William Vivian Bloor
Nickname(s): Manny
Date of birth: sometime in the summer
Place of birth: Freadwardbobertmc'hammerhimesmitopolis, Wales
Parents: Harold Bloor & Dorothy De Vere
Male or female: a guy, of course!
Magical origins? descendant of Borlath, a cruel and sadistic tyrant
Department in Bloor's: theater
Other facts: TBD
And I agree: we shall have to decide on a birthday for Manfred and celebrate it here on this forum. How's about he be born in the summer? Anyone agree?
Sazza
04-18-2010, 12:22 PM
Hehe, sounds fun. Yeah, I can imagine his birthday being in the summer (And him never getting a birthday party...:().
Um...how about August? Cos that is a fantabulous month *not biased at all because my birthday happens to be in August* :p
SparkleViolet
04-23-2010, 11:28 PM
Or when is the hottest day of the year? That would make sense because if Manfred was born on the hottest day of the year, like late July to mid August, then we could celebrate in the summer.

Meh, I don't know the hottest day of the year, but I'm thinking it would be different in different places...
If it helps, I always think of it as being in the middle of the month, because I can imagine everyone forgetting about it - and poor Manny crying whilst singing 'Happy Birthday' to himself :'( -therefore I think of it as being a sort of nondescript day people would forget, with an unmemorable date ie not right at the beginning and not near the end of the month.
If that made any sense at all :p

His birthday could be in August. I mean, there's no holiday in August, am I right?

Right. No ultra important holidays as far as I can see. So...a date? Hmm...what number jumps out at you?

I can foresee between the dates of August 10-20. Any other opinions?

Didn't he have his birthday before the Summer holidays? Remember he told Billy, I think the third one, that he wasn't leaving the school like everyone else?

Um....In the third book, he talks to Billy about Billy's birthday, but I'm sure Manny's birthday is never mentioned...

Yeah. Billy seems to have been born in the spring. But Manfred has to be born in the summer though.

It means that because she was the one running the club, it might not be continued. However, I think it's perfectly acceptable to pass on a club if need be. :)
