Hi Alexandra! May we call you Alex? Or Lexy? Or do you prefer the full, elegant Alexandra? (Such a lovely name! :o)
My name is nevermore, and I'm the forum administrator. Please allow me to present to you a copy of our Rules and FAQs. (http://charlie-bone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2) They'll teach you all about our forum. :)
I'm Russian too! Well... mostly... I've got a bit of Italian heritage, and possibly some Polish, too, but we're not quite sure. Definitely Russian though! My great grandparents came to America around 1900. I can speak/read a very, very small bit of Russian... I started learning the language about two years ago, but that was also my final year in college, and I was drowning in schoolwork, so I had to give up my Russian classes. I'm still very sad about that... :( I liked Russian...
What's your favorite food? (I loooove to cook!). I made blintze last night (one of my favorite treats), and it was GOOOOD! :D My favorite food, however, is sushi. Mmmm, sushi.
I'm talking a lot, aren't I? WELCOME TO THE FORUM!
Welcome Welcome!!
I am Mally! How ya doin? Do you have a favorite book or anything? Have you ever read Lemony Snicket? What is your favorite TV show? Mine is Phineas a Ferb (obviously). Yeah. i dont really have much to say except welcome to the forum!
Cya round!

Kalik2486,
Do you want to learn Russian?
Cool.
But it is very difficult (sometimes I get on this lesson bad grades, although in recent years begin to be corrected)
nevermore,
Yes, I prefer to call me Alexandra (my friends call me so. How much it was strange)
My favorite food...depends on my mood.I eat very little. (I have no time to eat properly)
But in general, I like pizza, sushi, chocolate, salads ...And I also love to cook.
Mally,
No, I never read Lemony Snicket. I often read Russian literature(obviously).
For example, Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov. Or the French or the Scandinavian literature (Marie-aude Murail et cetera).
My favorite TV Shows - The Simpsons, Family Guy, Fred's Head, Married with Children, One for All (Russian show), King of the Hill et cetera.
To all,
Thank you for the warm welcome on this forum))

Ooh ooh! I read Dostoevsky! I read Crime and Punishment when I was about 18 and it was so awesome! I bought The Brothers Karamazov but... *looks around guiltily* I never got around to reading it... :( Now I don't have it anymore. *cry* I also read some Chekhov plays back in college...
I also really want to read Tolstoy. Especially Anna Karenina and War and Peace...
Oh, and Ayn Rand. Did you know that she learned English so she could write The Fountainhead? That is very impressive. I want to read such an ambitious novel. :o
Basically, I really want to read Russian literature. A family friend studied Russian literature in college, which is odd, because she didn't speak russian. haha. All she could say (for some reason) was "Take the children to the train station." :D
You should try Lemony Snicket (he wrote A Series of Unfortunate Events, which has a movie you may have seen). If you like Charlie Bone, you would probably like Lemony Snicket's series, too. (Most of the members here really like Snicket novels, haha)

It's really cool that you're from Russia! One of my fave anime characters was Russian. His name is Yuriy Ivanov, from Beyblade. :D And I've always wanted to learn Russian, but the alphabet look waaaay too intimidating. I'd went to the library a few times, pick up a self-learning book, flip through it and put it back on the shelf. Maybe I'll try it again, since I don't have much to do during the holidays anyway...
Before I ramble on further...I'm Vampyre. I'm from Singapore and it's extremely hot here at the moment. Hope you have fun on the forum!:D

Vampyre,
In the anime, there are Russian?
I did not know))
Do you love One Piece?
Cool!
I had watched this anime))
Come to my thread in the Art Departament)) (Works of Russian Girl)
Vampyre
03-12-2010, 01:03 PM
Yes, there were, but they weren't the main characters. Have you watched Beyblade before? The Russian team only appeared towards the end of the first season but they appeared a lot in the third season. ^__^
I love One Piece! Who's your favourite character? Mine is Luffy, closely followed by Zoro. I like all of them actually; the characters are so lovable. >w<
Alright, I'll go see your art~
Russian Girl
03-12-2010, 01:13 PM
Vampyre,
No, I do not look Beyblade.
My favorite character in One Piece - Nico Robin))
She reminds me of me))
Vampyre
03-12-2010, 01:26 PM
Robin is cool.:D I guess if I were to describe myself in terms of One Piece characters, I'd say I'm most like Zoro, with a bit of Luffy and Nami. Rather weird combination, I know. Lol.
I don't know whether you'll like Beyblade. It's a pretty old anime and is really childish. It's about a group of kids competing with tops, which have sacred animal spirits trapped inside them. I watched it when I was 11 or 12, haha.
Russian Girl
03-12-2010, 01:30 PM
And how many years you now?
Hmm ..
Children's anime?
Type "Shōnen"?
I do not like this))
Vampyre
03-12-2010, 01:41 PM
Yup, it's children's shonen anime. Not many people like it...hehe. I'm going to be 19 this year. Yes, I am that old.:p
What other anime do you like?
Russian Girl
03-12-2010, 01:59 PM
O..
I rarely watch anime.
But I like comedy like "Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", "K-ON!", "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei"
...
Here's how something like that))
You are 19 years old?
Wow.
I'm 13, but I look as if I was not 13 years old, and 15 or 16 years.

The Cyrillic (russian) alphabet isn't too hard, actually. The trickiest part is that some of the characters look just like characters in the english alphabet, but they make a different sound. That starts to get confusing if you're reading fast, but all in all, I think Russian grammar makes more sense than english grammar does. It's not full of exceptions to rules and piles of irregular verbs the way english is. If you really want to learn a language though, the best way is to take a class so that you can have a fluent speaker teach you. It's just too hard to do it with a book because you can't know if you're pronouncing something correctly.
If you could get your hands on something like Rosetta Stone for Russian though, that might be a good way to learn. I've seen the program for things like Japanese and Spanish, and it seemed pretty cool. You even use a microphone to practice speaking, and it corrects you if you mis-pronounce something! Amazing!

Yes I do... especially Russian history too. I hear they're very proud people. It's good to be so nationalistic.
I'm studying French right now, and I'm doing well in it (and hopefully stay getting good grades) so I think I could manage to learn it no matter how hard it is, because I enjoy hearing people speak in a different language...

Yes, Russia - a multiethnic nation.
And in her stories are so many different events.
There were changes in the princes of Russia, has expanded its territory, the war took place (the bloodiest - Great Patriotic War, I read a lot about it), but Russia still remained a great country))
Very pretentious speech))
And I also learn the French language is almost 6 years.

I know the best way to learn a language is to get a teacher, it's not impossible, but I think it's hard to find one here and even if there is, I'm sure it'll cost a bomb. I wanted to continue with my German at Goethe Institute, but it costs around $300-400 for a term. My mum told me to go ahead if I wanted to take it, but money's kinda tight at the moment. Tuition and what not for my siblings (bro's having his GSCEs this year and my sis, the next). So yeah...:o I'll look out for the Rosetta Stone CD. It sounds uber cool.:D
EDIT: I saw the CD package online. It's seriously expensive. XD

Indeed, learning a foreign language need to hire a very good teacher, otherwise you do not learn.
