This needs no intro. Just read and react.

twilight engagement ring (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/movie-talk-would-you-accept-a-twilight-engagement-ring.html)

Gosh, thats just...sort of cheesy. Dinky little fan watches and stuff, fine. But a symbol of life-long commitment? Dripping with cheese.
I mean, if it were a really beautiful ring I would understand, but (well, at least in my opinion) it isn't even that sparkly and pretty enough for me to really want it (really, you would have thought that an engagement ring from a vampire who is practically drowning in money would be better than that)

My opinion, this sums it up pretty well: And when the "Twilight" phenomenon gradually fades from our cultural memory, as all things eventually do, will wives look down at their movie tie-in rings with a twinge of embarrassment? One can only imagine the family-heirloom possibilities: "Honey, let's not tell our grandson the ring was based on a vampire movie."

Whoa. That has crossed bounds with cornyness.:eek:How on earth did you find this Nevvie...?

I don't think I would except the ring unless it was a crazy joke my boyfriend was up to, which would be really funny, and we would just changed the ring of course.:pBut,I don't think I would ever have a boyfriend who would do something that corny for REAL in the first place.

It IS quite unatractive Sazza...and that comment does some it up...*shudders*

Haha, the story popped up on yahoo news, and the second I clicked it I burst out laughing. I knew, for better or worse (because I'm sure there are girls out there who would love to have one) it would make for a very interesting discussion. :D

If it WASN'T a twilight ring, and I bought the cheapie one, I might pair it up with some long skirts and sandals for a very bohemian look, however as a piece of serious, expensive jewelry? Totally not my taste. As a rule, I do not spend large amounts of money on chunky jewelry. It could be because my dad's a goldsmith and I've seen some of the gigantic rings/bracelets/necklaces/earrings that women drop hundreds of thousands of dollars on, so stuff like that really does not dazzle me. *shrug*

Granted, I'm hardly one to scoff, since I do have (and have been known to wear) Hermione's Yule Ball earrings... (http://www.wbshop.com/on/demandware.static/Sites-WB-Site/Sites-master-catalog/default/v1244713149763/Images/ProductImages/hpnbehyb_f.jpg)

Necklaces? Fine. Other jewelry? Fine. Stationary? Fine. Other assorted goods? Fine.

Wedding rings? A symbol of lifelong commitment? Insane.

(LOL, Sazza, I'm sorry, comment twins. xD Totally was not copying your reaction there. xD)

Plus, I think it's too chunky to be a wedding ring. It looks really cheap, IMO. I think wedding rings should look more elegant.

I love twilight but I think that they shouldn't be selling a copy for that amount of money!!! I mean twilight Cullen crest braclets, necklaces, stationary, posters etc is fine but and actual wedding ring to have as yours!! I don't see the problem with having a wedding ring that looks like that but for it to be an exact copy from the film is a bit to over obssesive.

It's not even that nice. It's too bulky.

On a side note - (I can't believe I'm saying this) but Eclipse looks quite good from that trailer. It kind of makes me want to watch it...

(^^^It does look good doesn't it!! I can't wait)

(really, you would have thought that an engagement ring from a vampire who is practically drowning in money would be better than that)
Oh Edward didn't buy the ring. It belonged to his mother and was his mother's engagment ring. :)

On the other side the ring is how I sort of imagined it to look like, it just needs to be more sparkly :D
Does anybody think that somebody will actually buy the expensive version ring to have as there actual engagment ring?? I think people may get the cheaper ring as that seems fine but not the expensive one. What was Stephanie Meyer thinking when she let them do this?!

I think my mind twitched a little when I read the article.

Now I'm crying on the inside. What next? Twilight calculators? Twilight-themed apples (like the Toy Story ones you can get)? Twilight toilet paper?

You can get Robert Pattinson tampons apparently.

I think I died a little when I read that.

It makes me physically SICK to think that someone would want that. *shakes head*

I don't mind people liking Twilight, but when one of the biggest commitments of their lives is asked with some stupid franchise in mind.

That made no sense, but you get what I mean.

When I told one of my friends about them she proposed we buy some and throw them at the Twihards at the cinema when Eclipse comes out.

It's kind of creepy.
It's encouraging fan girls even more to be in love with a fictional vampire, does nayone else find that a little scary?

It doesn't seem very healthy, that's for sure...
Fine if they want to sell the real deal and just be like "here. It's a pretty ring from the movie. Buy it." but that fact that they're saying "here, it's a pretty ring from the movie, buy it for your wedding day" is what makes it go from "ok whatever" to "um... what?"

@ Nevvie : CUTE! I love the Yule Ball earrings... those are awesomesauce! Where did you get them? And also, they are a LOT cuter than the dumb ring and I'm geussing did not cost 1000 dollars...

@ Daydream, regarding the ... er... 'product' you mentioned....
Words fail me.

And as for the rings.... um, when I take away the fact that it's based off of twilight and 1000$... I still wouldn't want it. First of all, it's not just one gem, it's a bunch, and it doesn't look like an engagement ring at all. Back to the gem thing.... I pity the couple who gets married with that. First of all, they'd have to wear it even when they were old and nobody even remembered twilight... if they lived that long. I grew up with the belief that if a ring has more than one gem on it, it's really bad luck.

But even with all superstitions aside... it's ugly.

Oh. My. Gosh.

That is funny and sad at the same time.

I can imagine the child around age 6: "Mommy, can you show me your engagement ring?" "Ummmm...."

Child around age 10: "Mommy, your engagement ring is ugly."

Child around age 16: "I cannot believe you actually bought an engagement ring that was from a pop culture movie. You're so stupid."

This has nothing to do with the fact that I find Twilight to be creepy to the Nth degree, but I would never, never in a thousand years wear that thing. Because it's UGLY! And huge, and gaudy and just- no freaking way. I'd be embarrassed to wear that ring out of the house and worried about wearing it to school because I go to school in a not so great area of Philadelphia.

Espionage: I never heard about it being bad luck to have more than one gem on your ring. What tradition is that? Why is it bad luck? Does it apply to just having two different kinds of gems or multiple gems of the same types? (Like an eternity diamond ring)

My mother once told me that she would give me her second engagement ring- the one she got when she married my father in a Jewish ceremony, which happened to be three days before I was born. It's a modest diamond ring with two slightly smaller rubies on either side (both my mother and my birthstone) on a thickish yellow gold band. The band is too big for me (I have really thin fingers) so I'll need to have it resized, and I've considered maybe getting a new band all together. A thinner one, possibly still yellow gold but maybe white or rose gold.

Yes, I have spent WAY too much time thinking about this.
