This has been jumping around in my mind for a while now, so I've decided to write it out. However, to keep it appropriate, we cannot put in the bits with the spider machines in the second part.

I'm gonna base it mainly on the book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_War_of_the_Worlds) and the Jeff Wayne version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBC7TnjHKGE&playnext_from=TL&videos=muQg7NG5Omw), because I really do not like the Tom Cruise movie version of the story. It killed the story in my mind. Plus it was majorly creepy, like, more creepy than the book. And really OTT (in my opinion).

25th August, 2012

A green flare is spotted coming from Mars, speeding towards Earth. Ogilvy the astronomer reassures people that it is nothing, there can be no living thing on that remote planet. Another two flares are spotted a few hours later, but people pay then no notice, reckoning them to be odd shooting stars.

26th August, 2012

The green flare turns out to be a large cylinder that has crash landed, and many people have crowded around to see what it is. Ogilvy tries to get closer, but the intense heat stops him. People grow more worried as sounds of movement and banging are heard from inside, fearing there is someone trapped inside. With a sudden crash the lid falls off, and a large creature, bigger than a bear, crawls out. In shock, people gasp and a few run. Many stay, transixed by the odd being. Suddenly, there is a huge flash, similar to that coming from Mars the night before, and everything surrounding the odd cylinder is instantly turned to fire. The lucky ones who escape flee for their lives, warning anyone who has not yet heard the news. As the other two cylinders land, people panic, pack, and escape to nearby towns and cities.

27th August 2012

More and more flashes are seen coming from Mars, and now people know what they contain. As more Martians arrive, the country falls into chaos, and many people attempt to catch boats overseas to escape the carnage. However, the boats are sunk by a Martian, luckily with no-one on board, and people see this as their last hope gone. Everywhere is in ruin as the plants that give Mars it's red colour start to grow. A few people, lost, weary, hungry, spot each other, and decide to group together. They feel that if they work together, they have a better chance of survival.

Name: Charlotte Riddell

Nickname: Charlie

Gender: Female

Age: 16

Personality: Charlie is a girl who knows where she stands morally and who cares about how people feel. She is very much a Socialistic person, believing that every act you do affects other peoples' lives and that you should always take responsibility for your actions. Sometimes Paranoid. Believes strongly in the Supernatural.

Appearance: She's the "frumpy but super smart" type of girl. Likes to have a nice appearance. Her shoulder-length hair is rather bushy but she manages to tame it by keeping it in a plait. She needs glasses but prefers to wear contacts as glasses can be such a nuisance at the best of times. Charlie doesn't have much of a dress-sense and tends to wear jeans and blouses rather than trying to wear anything in the fashion.

Other: Due to her always having believed in Aliens, she's really excited about the aliens landing and the scientific part of her is saying things like "go take a sample" or "make sure to study them carefully", whereas the normal part of her tells her to be absolutely terrified of what's happening.

((I'm just gonna start now :) More people can join if they like. If not, then it can just be like the Imagination RP with just the three of us :p Also Thirrin, was that an AVPM reference? "I may be frumpy but I'm super smart" xD))

Molly jumped out of bed and ran to the window as she spotted another green flash iluminating the sky. Knowing full well what this meant, remembering the utter chaos from the day before, she bolted through to her parents room to wake them up. Rapping on the door and entering without waiting for an answer, she found her parents packing personal belongings and some clothes into bags.

"We know, grab your things. Here's a bag." her mother cried, tossing a small bag to the unsuspecting Molly before she could open her mouth.

"Where are we going?" she stammered, helping her mum stuff a pillow into a bag.

"Out of town. Your dad is getting the car ready. Switch on the tv and flick to the news channel. It should tell us where the cylinder has landed so we can avoid it." she instructed, pointing at the small tv on top of the chest of drawers. Molly had to admire how well her mother kept her head in the panic.

She heard her neighbour swear loudly as his car took a while to start, and her father entered quickly through the side door, pounding up the stairs as Molly fumbled with the tv remote.

"... has been reported that another cylinder has crash landed not far from the centre of town. Police are advising people to stay indoors as they try to determine if another 'Martian' shall come from this cylinder..."

Molly tore her eyes from the images on the tv screen and ran back through to her room, taking the bag with her. Stuffing some clothes and a few personal belongings into the bag, she went back through to her parents room.

"No time to get dressed. Car, now, Mols!" her father commanded, and she nodded, running out to the driveway before suddently stopping and looking down the street, where another Martian was making its way up the small street, where neighbours were running around lke headless chickens. She screamed in panic and ran back into the kitchen, shouting for her parents.

Charlie woke with a start as she heard the screams coming from outside on their street. Practically jumping out of her bed, she ran to the window to see a green flash in the sky. She was really intrigued about the Martians, at the same time being utterly terrified of it all.

Since the Martians had started arriving, Charlie had kept a bag packed with clothes and essentials in the case she had to leave at any given moment. Looking down towards the street, she knew that now was the time to leave. The day before, she had seen her Dad disintegrated by the fire-gun things that the Martians had. She had practically cried her eyes out, but now was not the time to cry again. She could see one of the Martians advancing up the street and she saw the flashes and watched people disintegrating. It was really horrific.

"Charlie, come on! We need to get out of here!" she heard her Mother call to her. Hurriedly getting into some jeans and a shirt, Charlie ran as fast as she could to the outside where her motorbike was still standing. Her Dad's car had been crushed by debris and now their only transport was her motorbike. Grabbing her helmet, she saw that her mum was already wearing hers and ready to go.

Shoving the key into the ignition, Charlie and her Mumm zoomed off on the motorbike, following another car that was also running from the terror. Both she and the car were going as fast as they could, but Charlie couldn't help but get a little road-rage at the fact that now was the moment that traffic just had to start building.

Molly and her parents eventually managed to get into the car and started driving in the opposite direction of their origially planned route, hoping to drive down some of the back streets till they got their destination. It would take longer, yes, but at least they wouldn't be disintegrated.

Molly remembered seeing a few of her neighbours blasted a few days before, and the image would be frever burned in her brain.

Hugging the bag to her chest, they drove well over the speed limit, joining the growing mass of vehicles that were attemting to leave. A girl on a motorbike behind their car started shouting at her dad, and her dad leant out of the window and shouted at the car in front of them, everyone demanding to know what the hold up was.

Not a minute after, their questions were answered as another Martian appeared above the vehicles, casting an eeire shadow over the people who were now abandoning cars and attempting to run back the way they had came. There was no way to escape by car or any other mode of transport, the roads were too packed.

Molly followed her parents footsteps and hurried out of the car, struggling to keep up with them as the large crowd rushed past, sweeping them away from her in the blnk of an eye. "MA! DA!" she cried, clambering onto the roof of a car, where she attempted to pick out her parents frantic faces among the rabble.

Charlie's eyes opened wide in terror when she saw the Martian towering over them, casting an eerie shadow across them all. Practically frozen with terror, she didn't realise that everyone was running against them, tearing Charlie and her Mother apart with each body that pushed past them in the crush of terrified people. A scream ripped through the air and Charlie realised that she hadn't moved and the Martian was coming nearer and nearer.

"MUM!" Charlie yelled when she saw her Mother being taken away from her by the crush of people. Charlie did her best to grab hold of her Mum's hand but she was dragged away by a Martian tentacle. Another scream rent the air and Charlie knew that she would never see her Mum again. Tears welled in her eyes but now wasn't the time for crying. Now was the time to run.

Flipping down the visor of her helmet, Charlie revved up her motorbike when she saw one of her neighbours standing on a car roof. Charlie couldn't leave her there to fend for herself. Pushing through the crow, she got to the car, removed her helmet and called up at the girl.

"Molly, you've got to get down from there! If you don't you'll surely perish. C'mon, let's get out of here!"

Molly screamed again as she lost sight of her parents, and the Martian stepped closer and closer. It grabbed one or two people, causing more pandemonium and the crowd to push against each other harder.

She heard someone calling her name and whipped her head round frantically, hoping it was one of her parents. However, it was her neighbour, a girl called Charlie, with her face partially hidden by her motorbike helmet.

"But I can't find my parents! I'm not going anywhere without them!" she cried, still hugging the bag as though it were a comfort blanket.

She looked back around and saw the tentacle of the Martian speeding towards her, and she jumped off the roof of the car with a screech. Seconds later, the car was crushed, and Molly scrambled towards Charlie.

"I'm sorry, Molly, but I can't tell you if you'll see your parents again. I just lost my mum, and I know that I won't see her again..." Charlie said as tears began to well in her eyes and she began to cry. No, I can't cry. Now is not the time! she told herself sternly in her mind. "Look, we can be sad later, but right now we need to get out of here." Charlie said as she revved her motorbike up and they were zooming off.

People parted to let them through. It was either that or get squished. Charlie pushed her motorbike to it's limits and raced as far as she could away from the area, coming to an abandoned petrol station where she stopped to fill up.

"I think we've put enough distance between ourselves and those martians for now..." Charlie said both to assure herself and to assure Molly, who was still wearing the pjs which she had left her house in. "You ok there, Molly?" She asked, giving the girl a warm hug. Tears were in her eyes again, but she had to be strong. They weren't out of the trouble yet.

Molly sat on the cold ground outside the abandoned petrol station, shivering slightly in her thin pyjamas as she tried to come to grips with what had just happened. It had all happened so quickly.

The martian attacked the car, and she scrambled onto the back of Charlie's bike, holding onto Charlie tightly as they sped off through the crowds.

She nodded silently in response to Charlies question, hugging her back.

"This is never gonna end, is it? The aliens are just gonna keep attacking, moving on from here once we're all gone and attacking other places..." The question wasn't really directed at Charlie, more to herself, and Molly hugged her knees tightly, wondering why this was all happening.

Charlie could feel Molly shivering in the cold. That was when she noticed that Molly was only wearing some thin pyjamas. Charlie had some spare clothes in the seat of her motorbike, but she was a lot bulkier than Molly was.

"You're freezing Molly. Do you want some of my clothes? I'm bigger than you, but you could use the extra layers, really," Charlie said as she opened up the seat of her bike and pulled out a baggy t-shirt, some jeans and an old hoodie. "Here, you'll catch your death from cold otherwise," she said as she gave Molly the clothes.

Molly greatfully took the clothes, pulling the hoodie over her head and smiling at Charlie. They didn't speak for a while, but Molly couldn't stand the silence.

"This is never gonna end..." she repeated, gazing blankly at the horizon.

"Why?" she asked, turning to Charlie, her eyes filling with tears. "Why are they here? Why not another planet? Another country? Another city?" she continued, as if Charlie knew all the answers. "Are we the only ones that got away? What can we do now?"

She tugged at the sleeves of the hoodie, turning to the horizon again, the blank expresson reappearing on her face. "What if they find us? We can't run forever..."
