You can pretend all you want, but I KNOW I can't be the only person out there who never outgrew picture books. Sure, I don't read them as often as I used to, but if I'm at the library or wandering around a bookstore, I still sit down and read through a picture book from time to time.
What are some of your favorite picture books? (Either now, or as a kid)
I LOVE Dr. Seuss. If there is one author that I never outgrew, and never will, it's Dr. Seuss. If I read Dr. Seuss to a sibling or cousin or some other young child in my presence, chances are, the kid will get sick of Seuss before I do! :D
My all time favorites though are One Fish, Two Fish, and Fox In Socks. :o
Charlie and Lola. I discovered these as an adult working at a public library. Too cute for words! I love the cartoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnFzVL7AQwM&feature=related), too. It used to be on really late at night on The Disney Channel (I'm not sure if it is still--it's not part of my cable package anymore) and I'd sit up late some nights just to catch it. Yeah. Nerdy. I know. :p
Knuffle Bunny (http://www.amazon.com/Knuffle-Bunny-Cautionary-Ribbon-Picture/dp/0786818700). If I had to pick one single book which I discovered as an adult to put my seal of approval on, it's Knuffle Bunny. CutecutecutecuteCUTE!
(Fun Fact: I met Mo Willams and Jon Scieszka (the Stinky Cheese Man and Timewarp Trio author) at an American Library Association Book Cart Drill Competition... yeah... they have those... yeah... I was in one...)

I still love reading Where The Wild Things Are (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Where-Wild-Things-Maurice-Sendak/dp/0370007727/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274531439&sr=1-2). It is a fantastic book and I love the pictures in it!
I also still like reading the Roahl Dahl illustrated books. You can't beat the BFG!! :D
You stupid boy

I'll admit I never really caught on to Where the Wild Things Are. I found the illustrations really creepy.
When I was a child Each Peach Pear Plum (http://www.amazon.com/Each-Peach-Pear-Picture-Puffins/dp/014050639X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274543593&sr=1-1) was my favourite. I can still recite parts of it. :o I also loved Angelina's Christmas (http://www.amazon.com/Angelinas-Christmas-Angelina-Ballerina-Katharine/dp/0142411922/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274543747&sr=1-1) in the Angelina Ballerina series. Just cause they were adooorable. Also Ten in the Bed (http://www.amazon.com/Ten-Bed-Penny-Dale/dp/0744581699/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274543875&sr=1-5). Anyone else know it?
On that note, anyone else know We're Going On a Bear Hunt (http://www.amazon.com/Were-Going-Bear-Hunt-Anniversary/dp/1416987118/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274544220&sr=1-1), The Tiger Who Came To Tea (http://www.amazon.com/Tiger-Who-Came-Tea/dp/076364563X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274544253&sr=1-1) or the Mog (http://www.amazon.com/Mog-Forgetful-Cat-Judith-Kerr/dp/000717134X/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274544253&sr=1-4) series?
Nowadays I am completely in love with Jane Ray's books. The illustrations are SO beautiful I would recommend them for adults. Try The Twelve Dancing Princesses (http://www.amazon.com/Twelve-Dancing-Princesses-Brothers-Grimm/dp/1841217786/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274544379&sr=1-9) or Can You Catch a Mermaid (http://www.amazon.com/Can-You-Catch-Mermaid-Jane/dp/1841212962/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274544463&sr=1-1)?

Oh we used to read Going on a Bear Hunt in kindergarten, and we'd all clap to a steady rhythm while the teacher (Mrs... wait... wait... Weatherton! Yeah! Still got it!) read it to us. It was very fun, and probably a good way to get us all to calm down at the end of the day. :o

Haha, I still read all these books to my baby brothers. :p
My sister is too old for them now, she's into HP, but I always read The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Maisie the Cat to my brothers.
On that note, has anyone heard of Togg and Leftover? (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Togg-Leftover-Mike-Ratnett-Goulding/dp/B001UWOXSC/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274561042&sr=1-8) I love this book,it's one of my favourites. :D

No, I've never heard of that one!
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (http://www.amazon.com/You-Give-Mouse-Cookie-Give/dp/0060245867) is a great one for kids. It generally gives them a fit of the giggles when you read it to them, because the situation gets progressively worse as the book goes on.

I just remembered one. The Very Hungry Caterpillar! (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Very-Hungry-Caterpillar-Board-Book/dp/0241003008/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274614259&sr=1-1) I loved reading this book when I was younger and I still have a sneek read of my cousins copy :p It starts with a thin caterpillar which turns into a wonderful and beautiful butterfly. If you were 5 years old this was the most amazing thing ever :D
Has anyone else read this?

Yes! Again with kindergarten memories, I remember we did a unit on that book (ah, to be 5 again and studying Very Hungry Caterpillars, haha) and we made caterpillars out of the long half of an egg carton (like, 6 humpty-things in a row) decorated with paint and pom-pom balls. Then we put our caterpillars into cocoons (paper bags) and hung them from the ceiling with yarn.
Then during that time, we made butterflies using tissue paper, and when we got to school one day, the caterpillars had disappeared, and outside the cocoons were our butterflies! It was maaaagical! :o

I read it. There's this one book that my mom read to me several times It's called The Seven Silly Eaters (http://www.amazon.com/Seven-Silly-Eaters-Mary-Hoberman/dp/0152000968/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top) I checked it out again recently (much to the appallation of the friend I was at the library with and to the amusment of the children section librarians) and it's still really cute.

LOL. I read a similar one called "If you give a pig a pancake", I think I still have it somewhere in my house...
I remember reading a really sad, but beautiful one called "The Little Match Girl" by Hans Christian Anderson. Oh yea, and the Robert Munch kiddy books.

OH MAN. How could I forget this book?
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (http://www.amazon.com/Miraculous-Journey-Edward-Tulane/dp/0763625892)
We discovered it at the library one day, and one after another, the book passed from staff member to staff member across the entire county. We were smuggling it to one another on lunch breaks in order to cheat the waiting list! I BAWLED LIKE A BABY the entire time! And then I took it home and read it to my sister (it took like, two or three hours to read it) and she bawled like a baby, too. It's so gutwrenchingly sad and beautiful...
It's definitely up there with The Last Unicorn on my list of books that everyone should read once in their life.
